How Mentors Get On OnNetwork

🔥 Becoming a Mentor on OnNetwork Isn’t Easy—Here’s Why

OnNetwork isn’t for just anyone looking to make some side money. We are selective, and we only accept top-tier mentors who can truly help high school students succeed.

Every mentor goes through a rigorous process before joining our network. If you’re not dedicated to helping students and don’t have proven experience, you won’t make it past the application stage.

The 4-Step Process to Becoming an OnNetwork Mentor

1️⃣ The Application: Prove You’re an Expert

We welcome college students from all majors and universities, but that doesn’t mean just anyone gets in. Every potential mentor must demonstrate expertise in the area they wish to mentor in.

Strong Academic Background – Whether it’s college applications, SAT/ACT prep, or a specific subject, you must prove you’re knowledgeable.
Experience in Your Field – Have you worked as a tutor before? Did you ace your SATs? Have you successfully helped others with applications? Show us.
Clear Communication Skills – Being smart isn’t enough. You need to explain concepts clearly and effectively to students.

Only applicants who can prove their expertise move forward.

2️⃣ The Screening: We Check Everything

Once you apply, our team verifies your academic background and experience. We check for:

  • Authenticity – Fake credentials? Immediate rejection.
  • Subject Knowledge – If you’re applying to tutor SAT/ACT, we check your scores. If you want to help with essays, we look at your writing background.
  • Passion for Teaching – We don’t want mentors who are just in it for the money.

Many applicants don’t make it past this step.

3️⃣ The Interview: Show Us You Can Teach

If you pass the screening, you’ll be invited for a one-on-one interview where we test your ability to mentor students.

💡 What We Look For in Interviews:
✔️ Can you clearly explain complex topics?
✔️ Are you engaging and professional?
✔️ Do you have a structured approach to guiding students?

Fail the interview? You’re out.

4️⃣ The Final Test: First Session Approval

Even after getting accepted, you don’t officially become a mentor until you successfully complete your first session.

🔹 Did you provide high-value mentorship?
🔹 Did the student find your guidance useful and actionable?
🔹 Did you meet OnNetwork’s high standards for professionalism?

Mentors who fail to impress students in their first session are removed. No exceptions.
